The Daily Prayer: March 31, 2020

Devotion by Pastor Audrey

March 31, 2020

During a phone conversation I had with a member of Central last week the person said, “I miss my church.” “I didn’t realize how important it was to me.” After our call, I thought about her comment of missing her church. What I found interesting is she didn’t say I miss coming to Central church or church in general, no she used the word my. In doing this, she took ownership of Central not only as a place of worship, but so much more.

Her words reflected the pride a person feels when they possess: something of great value to them, something that is part of who they are, something that would impact them deeply if they lost it or it was taken from them and something that gives their life meaning and purpose. “My” one little word, but it can say so much.

Take some time today, or the coming week, and think about what Central, or another church, means to you. How has not coming to worship or other activities affected you? Will you look at it differently when it opens up again?
